Runs on two D-Cell batteries (not included). this light looked ok in picture but as an over all product is poorly made. i was very disappointed with the quality. light is extremely fragile and far from water prof. unlike the military tactical light. the lens are so thin that the only one that makes a difference is the red one, i guess this proves you really do get what u pay for
